My Bio
I am one of several resident artists in the guild Chronicles of Tyria [CoT], and am the sole artist behind the webcomic.

By trade and training I am an electrical/electronics engineer. I have been drawing as a hobby since the 4th grade. I even still have my sketchbooks from back then. My biggest problem as an artist is getting my pieces done while I still give a damn about them. Very quickly I would get lost/bogged down in anatomy and details that the Idea, the Feeling of the piece would get forgotten. Many of my refined pieces have 100's of hours put into them, and did not always come out how I wanted because the end was usually slapped together.

To work on this I started doing speed painting. Speedpainting you do not have much time, so you are more focused on getting the information down and the point across than how perfectly correct it is. That is how Podcast Art came about. CoT does a weekly podcast and in the hour+ the 'cast goes on I speedpaint an idea. When the podcast ends, so does my painting. I prefer to do this to the live podcast so that i have no idea how much time I will get. This has been a huge help in teaching me to let go and let my pieces be more organic, as well as improve my overall speed.

got screens from Ina yesterday. Finally! I already had posture in, so it took about an hour to flush out details, color and shade. I have doubled the picture.. and have spent about oooo about 2 hrs blending the colors better. I have to port it over to my desktop to complete it. Why?: My laptop doesn't have pressure sensitivity, so quality of work is lower cause it takes FOREVER to clarify the details of the picture. I'm really happy with how its coming out. its awesome!!!! I'm posting the lineart as a teaser. further WIPs may be posted at later dates

wow, really good at updating arent I... I'v finished Zero. colored EVERYTHING: background, characters, and even the magics. I layed out the shading. on everything... and then i smudged it so it looks soft instead of cell. and I put down all the different drop shadows. and I started on highlighting. My bro pointed out a huge void of nothing on the one side, so I'v moved Ina. Making her larger and doing a spiffy skill cast jumping thing in order to fill it. it looks much better now. I want to enlarge the pic 2X so i can start on the detailing, but I cant cause i STILL have nothing for Ina...STILLL.. thats y i'm not qouting times cause all i

So, finally got reference images for Zero's face, hair and armor... I'v spent about 3 hrs sketching out the top and an other hour doing the skirt... they are very intricate. Plus I'm referencing low qual screens of the items. Still need to find image of the Ancient oak sword (HH item) as well as SOMETHING ANYTHING for Ina... he still hasn't sent me the pics.. grrrrrr

Hey Melissa, was thinking about getting a premium membership and trying it out.  Do you think it's worth it though?   Seeing as you have one, thought I'd ask you!  Cheers
I received premium as a gift, honestly i have been too busy lately to truly test things out.

Hey Melissa, it's Matt Burak from the U of A.  I was asking Doug if you were still drawing, he told me to look you up!  So I did, and here I am.
